New Playground

July 11, 2022

By Will

In October 2021 we had the official opening of our brand new state of the art playground. It had been an exciting journey for the children watching it come together over the first few weeks back at school and the excitement was at an all time high on the opening day. The new playground was designed by a company called Kompan who also did our Junior yard in 2014. It has a pitch in the center for football, basketball, tennis and lots of other sports. Surrounding the pitch there are several different pieces of equipment such as a basket swing, tumbling bars, roundabout, trampoline and obstacle climbing course. We were very lucky to have the playground funded by Dublin Port and they have been generous sponsors of our school for many years. We had lots of guests present on the day including parents, students, staff, several local TDs, representatives from Dublin Port, the chairperson of our Board of Management Maureen O’Sullivan and the Minister for Finance Pascal O’Donohoe. Pascal O’Donohoe opened the playground officially and he gave a speech on the day along with our principal Niall Heneghan. It was a fantastic day and the children enjoyed watching the celebrations from their classroom windows.
