Today marked a special day for our school. Dublin Port’s major investment in a full refurbishment of our school’s IT equipment means we now have the most modern educational technology available to pupils, teachers, SNAs and ancillary staff in our school. The CEO of Dublin Port, Barry O’ Connell, invited the Minister for Public Expenditure, Paschal Donohoe, to our school today to officially launch our IT refurbishment project and we celebrated the commitment given to our school community as part of Dublin Port’s MP2 Project. All pupils from 1st Class – 6th Class were present in the hall to thank all of our visitors to the school, and 6th Class Room 8 welcomed the Minister to their room to explore some maths questions relating to the budget.

A thank you to Noel, our caretaker and Sandra, our secretary, for the extra work they did this summer, while work on the project took place. We have no doubt that all members of the school community will benefit greatly from the endless possibilities our new technology will provide to enhance the processes of teaching and learning.
Overview of the IT Refurbishment Project
16 Multi-Touch ‘CleverTouch’ Digital Classroom Boards: Replacing old interactive whiteboards and projectors, these advanced boards facilitate interactive learning and collaboration.
16 Laptops: Provided for staff, these laptops work in tandem with the digital boards to enhance teaching flexibility.
2 Digital Noticeboards: Installed at the main entrance and staff room, these boards are effective tools for communicating school events and important announcements.
30 Chromebooks and Charging Trolley: These devices allow pupils to engage directly with the digital boards, and the system enables teachers to display individual pupils’ work from their Chromebooks on the boards.
2 Epson Ink Multifunction Printers (MFPs) with Print Management System: These new printers offer a greener, more efficient alternative to traditional laser printers, reducing waste and carbon footprint.
Upgrades to LAN and Wi-Fi Networks: Essential for the smooth operation of the new technology, these upgrades ensure reliable connectivity throughout the school.
The integration of these components has greatly enhanced the learning environment. The digital boards, paired with the new laptops and Chromebooks, create a cable-free, wireless classroom experience. Teachers can easily project and manage content, while the digital noticeboards keep the school community informed and engaged. The efficient, eco-friendly Epson printers further contribute to a sustainable, cost-effective operation. All these advancements are supported by the upgraded LAN and Wi-Fi networks, ensuring seamless and effective use of the new technology.
The school will also keep devices which were in use prior to this refurbishment project. These include a suite of iPads and an iPad charging trolley, MacBooks as well as older suite of Chromebooks and a charging trolley.
Without doubt, the school is in a very good place in relation to IT resources.
Sincere thanks to Dublin Port from our school community.
