Cumann na mBunscol Athletics Competition 2024

May 24, 2024

On May 24th, our athletics team headed to Morton Stadium in Santry, with Ms Shine and Deborah, to compete in this year’s Cumann na mBunscol.

We were delighted to see lots of children, from 4th to 6th class, taking part in the tryouts for our athletics team. Ms Shine and Mr Keane had a very tough job with selecting the team! After lots of discussions, a team of eleven was selected.

We took part in the following events:

  • Boys shotputt
  • Girls shotputt
  • Boys long-jump
  • Girls long-jump
  • Boys 80m sprint
  • Girls 80m sprint
  • Boys 4x80m relay team
  • Girls 4x80m relay team

It was the first time some of the team had ever been on an athletics track so it was a good learning experience. The day was really enjoyable, even though we came away empty-handed this year!

The team represented the school very well with their wonderful attitude and we’re very proud of them all – we’re already looking forward to next year!
