5th Class DFB Trip

June 29, 2026

Our 5th Class students recently had the wonderful opportunity to visit Dublin Fire Brigade Headquarters, where they enjoyed an educational and exciting day learning about the vital work carried out by firefighters.

From the moment they arrived, the children were warmly welcomed by members of the Dublin Fire Brigade team. They learned about the important role firefighters play in keeping our communities safe, responding to emergencies, and helping people in times of need. There were plenty of opportunities to ask questions, and our students impressed the firefighters with their enthusiasm, curiosity, and excellent behaviour.

One of the highlights of the visit was getting an up-close look at the fire engines and specialist equipment used by the emergency responders. The pupils were fascinated to see how the vehicles operate and to hear about the different types of emergencies firefighters respond to every day.

A particularly memorable experience was the opportunity for the children to go up on the fire brigade’s turntable ladder, rising 7/8 metres above the ground. There was great excitement when Ms. Barry travelled all the way to the highest point of 30 metres, despite not being a fan of heights! The children were delighted to cheer her on from below.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone at Dublin Fire Brigade HQ for taking the time to share their knowledge and experience with us. It was a memorable and inspiring visit that our students will be talking about for a long time to come.

Well done to all of our 5th Class students for representing the school so positively throughout the trip!
