2nd Class Art

February 7, 2023
Last month in 2nd Class, we were learning all about Jackson Pollock, an American abstract artist. We looked at lots of Jackson Pollock’s different paintings and some of the words that 2nd class came up with to describe his work were “weird”, “different”, “interesting”, and “confusing”, but we all agreed that his work got us thinking differently about art. 2nd Class made different abstract art pieces in Pollock’s style, including paintings and drawings.
The class’ favourite thing to make was their own abstract multi-media art piece, made using pencils, paint, markers, crayons, and oil pastels. Each student chose a feeling or concept to convey in their art piece, for example, mystery, community, happiness, surprise, and family, and conveyed that message using nothing but line, colour, shape, and pattern.
